WHAT DOES BALLOON SINUPLASTY INVOLVE?
Balloon sinuplasty, also referred to as balloon sinus dilation, is a minimally invasive procedure that improves upon traditional open endoscopic sinus surgeries by eliminating the need for anesthesia and cutting.
The goal of treatment is to relieve chronic sinus pressure by opening blocked sinus cavities and allowing them to properly drain. To accomplish this, a small deflated balloon attached to a very thin, flexible tub is fed into the sinuses and inflated to gently reshape the bone. The bone will heal itself and patients can return to normal activities shortly after.
