Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a breathing disorder that results from the partial or total obstruction of the upper airway during sleep.

It causes affected individuals to stop breathing for short periods of time while asleep and then wake up choking or gasping for air. During these apneic episodes, oxygen levels in the bloodstream drop, which can lead to serious health problems.

Treatment

Sleep apnea can be treated in a variety of ways, depending on severity and individual characteristics. We offer a full range of medical and surgical treatments to help patients with Sleep Apnea. Treatment can be life changing as it helps patients sleep better and have more energy and focus during the day.

Risk factors associated with sleep apnea:

  • Obesity
  • Anatomic abnormalitites (enlarged tonsils, tongue, or excess tissue in the roof of the mouth)
  • Family history
  • Sleep position
  • Use of alcohol or sedative medications
