Sleep Studies
Sleep Medicine
If required, an overnight sleep study (called a polysomnogram) may be ordered. The sleep study takes place in a pleasant, relaxed hotel-like environment.
In this test, you go to sleep as you normally would, but your brain, muscles, and breathing activity are measured noninvasively, and recorded until you wake up in the morning. Dr. Scotch will analyze the data gathered from this study to determine whether or not you have sleep apnea or another type of sleep disorder. He can then establish a diagnosis and recommend a treatment plan.
Conditions such as Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), Central Sleep Apnea, Narcolepsy, Hypersomnia, Insomnia, and Parasomnias can be fully evaluated and diagnosed to get you (and your partner) on your way to a better night’s sleep.
Sleep studies usually are done in a sleep lab. But sleep studies also can be done with portable equipment you use at home.
