Swallow Study – Trinity
ENT Specialists Serving Land O' Lakes, FL & Neighboring Areas
RESIDENTS OF TRINITY, FL, CAN VISIT US FOR A SWALLOW STUDY
WHAT IS A SWALLOW STUDY?
A swallow study, also referred to as a swallow evaluation, is performed to see how a patient’s esophagus and throat muscles function as he or she swallows.
There are several conditions that can make it difficult or painful for an individual to swallow—a problem known as dysphagia. Conducting a swallow study can provide valuable information as to what is contributing to the dysphagia and possible treatment solutions.
At Scotch Institute of ENT, we provide FEES testing, or fiberoptic evaluation of swallowing. During this swallow study, a thin, flexible tool known as an endoscope is gently inserted into the nostril and fed through the throat with the assistance of a numbing solution to help eliminate any discomfort.
